Most of these emotions are caused by deep-seated insecurities. The jealous individual might feel insecure about herself or about her partner’s love for her. The partners who belong in the ‘primary’ relationships also commonly feel these feelings, though the other partners may feel these too at some point. Knowing what triggered the emotion is the only way for the partners to properly resolve the issue.

Acknowledge the emotion. A common tendency among polyamorous people is to deny the emotion. They may also feel ashamed for even entertaining the thought. That’s because jealousy makes them think that they are not being truly polyamorous. Understand that this thought process is a by-product of being raised in a society where monogamy is the only accepted norm. People also have to understand that denying an emotion doesn’t mean that it does not exist; it is still there, it is still felt.
